WORKING HANDS with HIGHTIDE: Du'Ron Fisher

As a stationery brand, we are always curious how and what people use our stationery goods for. With this blog series, focusing on the hands at "work" and beyond, we ask five questions about the usage and meaning of the stationery tools to our friends in Los Angeles.

For our eighth post, we visited a LA based artist, Du'Ron Fisher at the ROW DTLA co-working area which is within a mere 30 seconds from HIGHTIDE DTLA location.

Q1. What do you do with Hightide stationeries - you have so many! Which one is your favorite?

I use a lot of pens and highlighters from Hightide, I also use my planner to map out my weeks and overall schedule for the month. My favorite to write with is the black Pilot felt-tip pen. I really like the Pilot Juice up pens as well; I usually recommend this pen when someone is asking for a good everyday writing utensil. As far as my planner, I love the Nähe (Schedule Book), I really like the layout that allows you to plan out your day hour by hour and by weeks/months as well. This is my 2nd year using this planner, so it’s safe to say that this is my preference for a planner from now on.

Du'Ron's Hightide stationery collection: Nähe Weekly Planner A5/Vertical in Black, Emilio Braga Marble Notebook A6 in Black with Adjustable Book Band in Slim Red, Nähe Hard Shell Laptop Case in Ivory, Trusco T-190 in Black, Retro Pen in Black...and more.

Q2. In our technology driven world, what does it mean to write by your hand to you?

Writing by hand means that I’m practicing presence and mindfulness. It also means that I’m more likely to remember.

 Q3. Pencils or Mechanical Pencils?

I prefer mechanical pencils; I always have. I don’t know why but I tend to veer towards things that have moving parts which I think is cool.

Here, Du'Ron's mechanical pencil of choice is Prime Timber 2.0 Brass (previous model) with his go-to highlighters and Penco Letter Opener

Q4. What’s in your pen case? How do you carry your pens?

I don’t have a pen case, ironically. Lol, I need to buy one because I just throw my pens in my bag/backpack that have small compartments for storage. But I just carry my favorite pens, mechanical pencil and highlighters. My favorite highlighters are my two Mark+ (two-way color marker). My go to pens to notate and remember things.

Du'Ron keeps his airpods in the Hightide Utility Case Mini in Black.

He uses a Gadget Rest-Stand in Black

Q5. What is your most favorite stationery?

My favorite stationary is Hightide brand. Before I would just buy my pens, pencils and notebooks from major retailers, not anymore though. But my favorite stationary is definitely my planner that I got earlier this year.
